Shooting Leaves Victim Paralyzed

JACKSON, Tenn. (June 17, 2015) – A Jackson man is paralyzed and the man accused of being responsible has his first court appearance.

Rodney Bailey appeared in Jackson City Court where he was formally charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Bailey allegedly shot Mark Webb in the neck outside the victim’s west Jackson apartment.

Police say Webb’s wife, who witnessed the crime, identified the suspect in a photo lineup.

According to the victim’s wife, on May 28th she and Webb were in their home and she stepped outside to buy a cigarette from a man in the parking lot.

Webb’s wife told police Bailey made inappropriate advances towards her. According to the wife, Webb came out of the apartment and had a short conversation with Bailey.

Police say this is when Bailey pulled a gun on Webb and shot him in the neck.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was stabilized then transported to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis.

The wounds left the man paralyzed from the neck down.

Rodney Bailey is being held at the Madison County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.
