With a campaign for a seat in the U.S. Senate headed down the homestretch, Dr. Manny Sethi (R-TN) brought out the heavy artillery at Volunteer International, Monday.
Ted Cruz (R-TX), who is supporting Sethi – made his second campaign stop in Tennessee in the last 10 days.
“The eyes of the entire country are locked on Tennessee,” Cruz said, “Conservatives are looking for a conservative … looking for a fighter … they are looking for a happy warrior.”
Sethi is looking to replace the retiring Lamar Alexander (R-TN) in the U.S. Senate when voters head to the polls for the Tennessee Primary, Thursday.
“We are on the verge of an historical victory in Tennessee,” Sethi said, “The people across the state are sick and tired of the same-old same-old – they don’t want another Washington insider.
“They want a Christian conservative outsider, they don’t want Mitt Romney’s best friend.
Dr. Manny Sethi is an orthopedic trauma surgeon at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the founder of Healthy Tennessee, a nonprofit organization designed to promote preventative health care across the state. This organization has cared for thousands of patients in almost every county in Tennessee.
Raised in Coffee County, Dr. Sethi received his undergraduate degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
“I grew up in rural Tennessee,” Sethi said, “My parents were immigrants to the this country. I have lived the American dream.
“I want to take the conservative values and principles I grew up with to Washington to take on the establishment – to take on leadership.”
He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. After college, as a Fulbright Scholar he worked in Tunisia with children suffering from muscular dystrophy. Dr. Manny returned home to Tennessee to impact change in healthcare and education.
He is married to Maya. Together they have two children, and the family attends McKendree United Methodist Church in Nashville.
“The senate is a battleground right now,” Cruz said, “There are distressingly few strong conservatives in the senate and we need reinforcements, and frankly, we need strong conservatives who will stand with President Trump.”
