Leadership Jackson nominations due by August 1

The Jackson Chamber is accepting nominations for Leadership Jackson, its adult leadership program, through August 1.

Leadership Jackson gives business professionals the opportunity to understand the community and its opportunities and challenges.

During the three-month program, class members visit area landmarks, meet with area leaders and participate in weekly sessions about topics impacting Jackson-Madison County, including education, health care, and government.

Applicants can fill out a nomination form online at LeadershipJackson.com.

Applicants must be a Jackson Chamber member, and a leader in their company or organization should nominate them.

They can nominate themselves if they are the primary decision maker. Due to class size, members must limit their nominations to one per chamber member.

JEA construction on 2.5 million gallon water tank continues

The largest water tank on Jackson Energy Authority’s water system remains under construction near Airport Industrial Park.

A date of completion has not been announced, but the cost for the 2.5 million gallon elevated tank is estimated at $4.5 million.

It is scheduled to serve current water needs and provide for future growth in the area.

The tank column is being constructed of reinforced concrete and the tank/bowl is being constructed of steel.

The painting is similar to other JEA water tanks.

The last elevated water tank was built on Crawford Springs Road in 1999.

Gold’s Gym has relocated to 1068 Vann Drive, from 106 Carriage House Drive.

The new location is the former home of Jackson Sport & Fitness Club.

“In April, we sold our gym to Gold’s Gym Tennessee, and this gave us the opportunity to buy Jackson Sport & Fitness Club, and combined the two,” Steve Roten said, “There was no room for growth at Carriage House Drive, and here, we can add more space and equipment.”

Roten, who serves as general manager of Gold’s Gym, said his new location consists of 30,000 square feet, or 9,000 more square feet than the Carriage House Drive facility.
