Former Wildcat Mark Vaughn named Bethel women’s assistant basketball coach

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – Coach Chris Nelson announced Friday Mark Vaughn has been named assistant coach of the women’s basketball program. He replaces Meagan Price who was recently named head coach at Tusculum University.

Mark is a 2010 graduate of Milan High School and a 2015 graduate of Bethel University.

After playing one season at Mid-Continent, Mark transferred to Bethel and played three seasons for the Wildcats. Vaughn was part of the first Wildcat squad to make it to the NAIA D1 National Tournament.

After graduating from Bethel, Mark went to Christian Brothers University in Memphis to be a grad assistant under former Bethel Coach Mike Nienaber. For the last three seasons he has served as an assistant for the men’s basketball program at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia.

Mark will be married in June to Kelsey Wilson.

Vaughn said, “I am excited to be coming home to the Wildcat family and very thankful for the opportunity. Getting to work with one of the best in the profession like Coach Nelson is a great opportunity for me to grow as a coach.”

Coach Nelson commented, “Mark is a Bethel guy and has all the qualities we were looking for in an assistant coach. He is hungry, loyal and really cares about being a part of a winning culture. Mark is well traveled to be so young in his coaching journey. He is use to wearing many hats and doing different coaching roles. He is great at player development coach and I can’t wait to see him work with our players.”
