From the Jackson Police Department –
On April 22, 2020, at about 12:47 in the afternoon, Officers and Investigators from the Jackson Police Department responded to the area of the 45 Bypass and Channing Way Intersection (in front of 2638 Highway 45 Bypass) in regards to an incident involving gunfire from one vehicle into another vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim of the incident with non-life threatening injuries and his vehicle which had been damaged during the gunfire.
Witnesses and the victim advised responding officers that the shooter was inside a maroon or red 4-door Infiniti which continued southbound towards I-40.
Investigators spoke with witnesses and processed the scene while other officers canvased the area looking for the suspect vehicle.
The Jackson Police Department also advised media outlets and surrounding Law Enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle.
The next day, on April 23, 2020, the police department received a “tip” from a citizen with a possible tag number of the suspect vehicle.
As the investigation continued, the vehicle, driver, and occupants were identified and interviewed by investigators.
The investigation indicated that the incident stemmed from a perceived road rage situation that occurred while both vehicles were traveling southbound on the 45 Bypass.
A passenger in the Infiniti, Cyandra D. Reed (DOB 07/05/1999) has been charged with Attempted First Degree Murder (T.C.A. 39-13-202).
The investigation is still ongoing and further charges could be forthcoming involving the driver of the vehicle.
