City, County mayors lift ‘Shelter-at-Home’ for ‘Safer-at-Home’

The ‘Shelter-at-Home’ executive orders have been lifted by Scott Conger, Mayor of the City of Jackson and Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris.

Conger and Harris have issued executive orders confirming the order will be replaced by a ‘Safer-at-Home’ order, which begins at 12:01 a.m., Monday, April 27.

The order allows restaurants to reopen dining areas to serve at half-capacity.

According to the order, all tables in the restaurants should be moved at least six-feet apart, and all employees must wear face coverings and gloves at all times.

All non-essential retail businesses should remain closed until at least 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, but may reopen at 12:01 a.m., Wednesday, April 29.

Those businesses must operate with social distancing guidelines while maintaining a capacity of 50 percent within the stores.

The following businesses will remain closed –

  • city venues
  • bars/nightclubs
  • movie theaters
  • entertainment centers
  • hair salons
  • nail salons
  • massage establishments
  • gyms and health clubs
  • tattoo establishments

Mass gatherings and funerals with more than 10 in attendance are prohibited.
