Physicians Quality Care received 49 COVID-19 test results Wednesday, and another Madison County resident tested positive. PQC has tested 901 patients in its secure and isolated COVID-19 Clinic since March 18.
Of the total number of 847 test results returned, 40 people have tested positive for the virus.
The county-by-county breakdown of people with positive results is Madison County, 28; Gibson County, 5; Haywood County, 3; Carroll County, 1; Henderson County, 1; Obion County, 1; and McNairy County, 1.
PQC, which tests roughly 30 to 40 people a day for the virus, is testing far more people than any other commercial clinic in the Jackson area.
Anticipating the need for secure and safe COVID-19 testing, PQC quickly set up three separate clinics at its Jackson location on Pleasant Plains Extension in mid-March – one for people with coronavirus concerns, one for urgent care patients and one for primary care/OCCMed patients.
Patients coming to the clinic for a coronavirus test are asked to call ahead or from the parking lot once they arrive. They are then taken to the secure COVID-19 Clinic where they are examined and then tested. All of PQC’s test kits are FDA approved and are sent to CDC-approved, nationally accredited reference laboratories.
In other developments this week, PQC launched a free COVID Awareness Program to give entire households the ability to monitor their health in real-time and learn as quickly as possible if any members are showing symptoms for the virus.
Those who sign up can download a secure HIPAA-compliant app to their smartphone, tablet or computer. They enter data, such as their temperature, and answer a few medical questions each day – or as often as necessary. A medical professional reviews the answers.
The individual will receive a phone call 24/7 if any data falls outside of accepted parameters.

Telemedicine is available during those hours. Because all COVID-19-concerned patients are directed to Jackson, PQC in Milan has new hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
