Physicians Quality Care continued to test patients for the COVID-19 virus Tuesday, bringing its total number of patients tested to 856. None of the results returned Tuesday were positive.
Physicians Quality Care quickly set up three separate clinics at its Jackson location on Pleasant Plains Extension in mid-March so it could safely test patients with coronavirus concerns and continue to safely treat its urgent care patients and primary care patients.
Patients coming to the clinic for a coronavirus test are asked to call ahead or from the parking lot once they arrive. They are then taken to the secure and separate COVID-19 Clinic where they are examined and then tested.
PQC is awaiting results for 58 coronavirus tests; turnaround time averages two to five days.
All of PQC’s test kits are FDA approved and are sent to CDC-approved, nationally accredited reference laboratories.
Of the 798 tests that have been returned, 39 are positive.
In other developments this week, PQC launched a free COVID Awareness Program to give entire households the ability to monitor their health in real-time and learn as quickly as possible if any members are showing symptoms for the virus.
Those who sign up for the program get access to a secure HIPAA-compliant app that they can download to their smartphone, tablet or computer.
Each day – or as often as necessary – they enter data, such as their blood pressure and temperature, and answer a few simple medical questions, which are then reviewed by a medical professional.
Anything that falls outside of accepted parameters is flagged, and a medical professional calls the individual 24/7 to discuss the next step.

The Physicians Quality Care location in Jackson is open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
Telemedicine is available for people who don’t want to come to the clinic.
Because all COVID-19-concerned patients are directed to Jackson, PQC in Milan has new hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
