Physicians Quality Care – 2075 Pleasant Plains Extension – is offering residents free, remote and real-time monitoring for the COVID-19 virus.
People who sign up for PQC’s COVID Awareness Program will be given access to a secure HIPAA-compliant app that they can download to their smartphone, tablet or computer. Each day – or as often as necessary – they will enter data, such as their blood pressure and temperature, and answer a few simple medical questions, which are then reviewed by a medical professional.
Anything that falls outside of accepted parameters will be flagged, and a medical professional will call 24/7 to discuss the next step.
“We’re offering this at no charge to protect our community; it’s the right thing to do,” said Dr. Jimmy Hoppers, CEO of Physicians Quality Care. “If we are going to contain this virus, we have to identify people who might have the virus as early as possible. The PQC COVID Awareness Program keeps the individual in charge of his or her health.”
PQC has been proactive in protecting the community during the pandemic, Hoppers said.
“Anticipating the increase in patients wanting COVID-19 testing and the need to keep them separate from other patients, we set up three completely separate clinics at our Jackson location on Pleasant Plains Extended in mid-March,” Hoppers said, “Each clinic – one for patients concerned about the virus, one for urgent care patients showing no symptoms of the virus, and one for primary care and OCCMed patients – has its own entrance and exam rooms.”
Since March 18, PQC has tested 687 people for the coronavirus in its secure and isolated COVID-19 clinic. PQC has received 642 test results; 31 of them were positive. All of PQC’s test kits are FDA approved and are sent to CDC-approved, nationally accredited reference laboratories.
“We were excited to be given the opportunity to offer the COVID-19 Awareness Program,” Hoppers said.
Each participant in the program will have the option to sign up every member of his or her household at no extra cost. The COVID-19 app is available in both iOS and Android versions.
