Stanton Nominated to Serve on Federal Bench

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The White House has nominated U.S. Attorney Edward L. Stanton III to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.

The White House announced the nomination Thursday.

Stanton has been U.S. attorney since 2010. He was senior counsel in the Litigation Department of FedEx Corp., where he worked from 2002 to 2010.

He was previously an associate in Memphis law firms and was assistant city attorney for the City of Memphis Law Division.

Stanton received his juris doctor degree in 1997 from the University of Memphis School of Law and also has a bachelor’s degree from the university.
