Michelle Willis was caught off-guard when Kyle Spurgeon, president/CEO of the Jackson Chamber, announced she was the Jackson Chamber’s 2019 Volunteer of the Year, during the Chamber’s annual celebration at the Carl Grant Events Center, Thursday.
“I’m honored … flattered,” Willis said, “I was very surprised they selected me. I enjoy working at Gerdau, and I enjoy volunteer work with the Jackson Chamber.”
Volunteer work that includes traveling to attend meetings to learn more about workforce development.
“There is not a more deserving, harder working, louder supporter in the City of Jackson,” Spurgeon said, “We are proud to have her as a resident here, and she is a huge giver of her time.”
The Annual Celebration spotlights accomplishments of the Jackson Chamber and honored businesses, industries and non-profit organizations.
The event – which attracted about 400 guests – also honored the chamber’s volunteers, and highlighted businesses that have made an extra effort to achieve excellence through high standards, professional accomplishments and community contributions.
