The West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation presented proceeds from its 30th Annual Charity Gala to the West Tennessee Healthcare Board of Trustees at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Tuesday.
Volunteers and staff from The Foundation presented the Ayers Children’s Medical Center and Kirkland Cancer Center $62,500 each during the West Tennessee Healthcare’s Board of Trustees monthly meeting.
“Our goal each year is to provide a fun and exciting event the wants to be a part of while knowing the money we raise supports vital programs at West Tennessee Healthcare,” said Jim Norton.
Jim Norton chaired the Gala for the sixth consecutive year – eight years overall.
The Charity Gala is The Foundation’s largest fundraising affair and is comprised of two nights of events each November.
The Patrons’ Party is held the evening before the Gala and serves to honor sponsors and award recipients.
The 2019 Gala, held at Oakmont Estate, welcomed 300 guests – which was the largest crowd to date.
The Charity Gala, held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, is an elegant evening which includes a silent auction, three-course meal, live entertainment, and the recognition of community members who have given of their time and talents to better the region.
Guests were also delighted to find themselves under the big top with a circus theme that included jugglers, aerialists and fire eaters.
“We are proud of the work we do to support Ayers Children’s Medical Center and Kirkland Cancer Center,” Frank McMeen said, “Over the past 10 years, funds raised at the Charity Gala have allowed us to give back more than $1 million to these two vitally important nonprofits that are part of West Tennessee Healthcare.”

“The impact of this event on the health of our community has been phenomenal,” said Bill White, chair of The Foundation’s Board of Trustees, “We are incredibly appreciative of the trust they place in us and the work they do.”
