The University School of Jackson announces Steve Stroud its new head softball coach.
According to a press release from Summer Paris – Paris Creative Agency – Steve comes to USJ with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Freed-Hardeman University.
He has taught math, Algebra, and P.E., at the elementary, middle, and high school levels for 34 years.
He has 15 years of experience coaching softball, including Head Softball Coach positions at Jackson Christian, Fayette-Ware High School, Adamsville High School, and Liberty Tech High School.
Steve’s experience also includes various coaching positions in football, baseball, and tennis.
“I am excited for the future of our softball program and look forward to the next season with Coach Stroud,” said Michael Stroup, USJ’s director of athletics, “He has extensive coaching experience that will help the Lady Bruins develop and succeed as a team.”
Originally from New Albany, Mississippi, Steve has been married for 36 years to Kaye Owens from Jackson.
Steve and Kaye have two sons, Nathan and Jesse.
Coach Stroud will meet with USJ families in the Mary Frances Campbell Library – Thursday – immediately following USJ’s volleyball game against Tipton Rosemark Academy.
He will take over as head softball coach starting this fall.
Coach Stroud replaces Brian Dunn, who became the head softball coach at the University of Tennessee Martin in June.
