Emmit Gooden, a defensive linemen with the University of Tennessee, is feared lost for the 2019 season after suffering a knee injury in practice, Tuesday.
The former Haywood High School star signed with UT in 2018, after becoming a four-star Junior College prospect at Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas.
At UT, Gooden was expected to be a key component on the UT defensive line this fall.
The 6-3, 290 pound senior played in all 12 games for UT in 2018, and worked his way into the starting lineup for the Volunteers against Vanderbilt in UT’s final game.
A three-year starter at Haywood High School, Gooden accounted for 213 tackles – 81 that resulted in lost yardage – and 24.5 sacks during his 29-game career.
