The first Southern League All-Star Baseball game at The Ballpark at Jackson since 2011, will be held at the home of the Jackson Generals, June 23, 2020.
Activities will also include the 2020 Southern League Home Run Derby, which will be held June 22, 2020.
The announcement was made during a press conference at The Ballpark at Jackson, Monday.
“It’s not something that happens every day, but we’re looking forward to showcasing not only the things that make Jackson a special place to be, but also showcasing the amount of talent we have in the Southern League,” said Marcus Sabata, assistant general manager of the Jackson Generals, “We’re gearing up for it already.”
The 2020 All-Star game will be the third the Jackson franchise – the Double A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks – has hosted.
The West TN Diamond Jaxx – the Double A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs – played host to the 1999 game at then-Pringles Park.
The Generals had changed affiliation – Seattle Mariners – when the 2011 game was held in Jackson.

This will be a big event for Jackson, a huge event, not only for Jackson, but for all of West Tennessee,” said Kyle Spurgeon, president/CEO of the Jackson Chamber, “This will be more of a Visit Jackson event, but the Jackson Chamber will be involved … it’s more Economic Development … a tourist related event.”
