Eddie Eagle Gunsafe Program

JACKSON Tenn (April 17, 2015) – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is supporting the National Rifle Association (NRA) “Eddie Eagle GunSafe” Program. This program was created to teach children, kindergarten through third grade, about what to do if they find firearms.

The Eddie Eagle motto: STOP, DON’T TOUCH, LEAVE THE AREA, AND TELL AN ADULT, is used to enforce gun safety.

Sergeant Allen Castleman, of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, has taught the Eddie Eagle program to over 5,800 children in 12 schools. Due to the popularity of this program additional classes are continually being scheduled.

All the material needed for these classes is provided without charge by the “Friends of the NRA”. The Friends of the NRA is hosting a fund raising banquet at the Jackson Fairgrounds on May 7, 2015, at 6:00 p.m.

Those interested in learning more about the Eddie Eagle GunSafe program are encouraged to attend or they can contact Sergeant Allen Castleman at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, 731/423-6000 for more information.
