Shawn Daly, General Manager for the Toyota Bodine plant in Jackson, is transferring to Group Manager – On-Site Partners (OSP) at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Guanajuato (TMMGT) in Mexico.
Shawn will ensure OSP readiness and milestone achievement, change point management, new project preparation and operation improvement. He will further manage OSP capability development, operational problem resolution and liaison between TMMGT and Toyota Motor North America.
“I got this offer about a month ago,” Daly said, “I’ll be Group Manager – On-Site Partners, which is about 1,500 employees … 12 different companies that do major parts of the manufacturing of the Toyota vehicle there – in this case – the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.”
Shawn said production at the plant begins in December.
Dan Reiche, currently Assistant Group Manager at Bodine St. Louis has been promoted to Group Manager (General Manager) at the Bodine plant in Jackson.
At Toyota Bodine in the Airport Industrial Park, Shawn managed the company that produced the engine blocks for all of the Toyota and Lexus vehicles built in North America.
The company also produces transmission cases and housings.
“I’m proudest of the growth and development of our team members,” Shawn said, “When I came here, we had 16 die cast machines and we’re installing our 23rd now,” Shawn said, “We’ve had tremendous growth, but the really impressive thing … a lot of people have grown and developed and have been promoted here.
“I enjoy seeing folks who were team members … hired when I came here five years ago and have since been promoted once or twice and have bright futures in front of them.
“We produce engine blocks, but we are in the people development business.”
The move calls for a good-bye to Jackson for Shawn and wife Cindy, who were both very active in the community since moving to the area in June 2014.
Shawn serves on the Jackson Chamber Board of Directors, the Jackson Symphony Board as the Finance Chairman, and he completed a term on the Boys and Girls Club Board.
He also serves on the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Jackson Board of Visitors and the Jackson-Madison County Education Foundation Board.
Cindy is the President of the Jackson Symphony League, and serves on the Kirkland Cancer Center Board and the RIFA Board of Directors, where she volunteers every week.
“Jackson has been a wonderful place to live,” Shawn said, “We plan to retire in West Tennessee. Last year we bought a lot on the Tennessee River in Decatur County, and we’re going to build our retirement house there.
“We’ll be back for sure, but don’t know when that will be. This is a great opportunity and the company has been wonderful to us.”
