MEDINA Tenn (April 13, 2016) – The family of two Medina Middle School boys who drowned on Sunday say the outpouring of support from the community is helping them cope with the tragedy of their loss.
Sunday afternoon 15-year-old twins Shawn and Keyshawn Collier and their friends were out by a pond near Blackmon Rd in Medina. Â According to authorities, Shawn fell in the pond, his brother went in to help him. Â There were friends riding 4-wheeler’s who saw the two struggling in the water but by the time they got to them they had gone under.
There are ways to help show support for the family.
An account has been set up at Medina Banking Company, FBO the Collier Family”. Â Donations can be made at any Drive-thru window, night drop, or walk in at any location. Â Donations can also be mailed to: Medina Banking Company, P.O. Box 479, Medina Tennessee, 38355. Â There are Medina Banking Company offices in Medina and Gibson Tn. The family will receive 100% of the proceeds donated.
There is also a Go Fund Me account set up and donations can be made there but the account is charged a 3% handling fee.
