Ricky Maddox, 23, was found by Jackson Police outside his residence at 392 N. Liberty Street suffering from gunshot wounds.

Maddox died after he was transported to a local hospital for treatment for his injuries.

According to a press release, on June 12, at approximately 11:10 p.m., officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to the area of 392 N. Liberty for an alert from the Shot Spotter system.

Responding officers located a victim laying on the ground suffering from gunshots.

Preliminary investigations indicate this was not a random act of violence.

Investigators of the Jackson Police Department are vigorously pursuing leads and are seeking any information that would assist in this ongoing investigation.

As part of the ongoing investigation, officers and investigators have been out canvassing the area and making contact with residents of the surrounding neighborhood.
