JACKSON Tenn (April 8, 2015) – Jackson police have arrested and charged 19-year-old Jimtarius Hampton, of Memphis, in a shooting last Thursday at Lane College.
Hampton is in custody at the Madison County Jail and will be arraigned this morning in Jackson City Court on charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon on school property.
BACKGROUND
Around 11:15 a.m. on April 2, officers responded to a report of shots fired on Lane’s campus near Orchard Street and Laconte Street. Officers found a 20-year-old man near the cafeteria with a gunshot wound to the thigh. The shooting victim was identified as a Lane student.
Officers arrested Hampton Monday night in Jackson.
