Kyle Teichmann has been named the boys basketball coach at Jackson Christian School.
“I’m excited,” Teichmann said, “There is a lot to be thankful for, and I’m excited for me and my family.”
Teichmann, 28, began teaching and coaching at Jackson Christian in 2017.
He served as the head coach of the boys middle school program and as an assistant for the boys team.
A native of Brentwood, Teichmann graduated from Freed-Hardeman University in 2014.
At FHU, he was named the TranSouth Conference Freshman of the Year after averaging 12.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
His junior year, he was named the TranSouth Conference Co-Player of the Year and a second team NAIA All-American after averaging 21.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game and shooting 54.6 percent from the field. He ranked ninth in the NAIA in scoring average and 10th in total scoring.
Teichmann, who teach high school economics and mathematics, said one of his first duties is to evaluate the talent Jackson Christian will put on the floor for the 2019-2020 season.
“Offensively, we’ll be more guard oriented, and space the floor,” Teichmann said, “Defense … man-to-man looking to force turnovers.”
