JACKSON Tenn (April 2, 2015) – Jackson Police are investigating a shooting near Lane College campus that sent one student to the hospital.  At approximately 11:43 p.m. police were called about shots fired in the area of Orchard Street and La Conte Street, across from the Lane College campus.

Once on the scene police discovered one victim with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the leg.  According to police the victim injury is believed to be non-life-threatening.

Police say several vehicles were seen leaving the area, and they are trying to determine whether one of them was a suspect.

The Lane College campus was temporarily placed on lockdown.

JPD spokesperson said the call came in at 11:43 a.m.

Police are not releasing the victims name at this time

The case is still under investigation.
