The Madison County Commission approved a motion to allocate $168,000 to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department for meals for inmates.
Commissioners voted 14-9, and one passed during Monday’s meeting.
Since 2014, the budget for the Sheriff’s Department has gone from $17.3 to over $23 million plus for 2019 – an average of more than $1 million each year.
