Health Department offering walk-in Immunization Clinic

According to a press release, the Madison County Regional Health Department, 804 North Parkway, will host a walk-in immunization clinic from from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday.

This is a great opportunity for parents to beat the rush and get school shots early without having to make an appointment.

Students entering kindergarten must get the measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), chickenpox, diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTaP), and polio vaccines before starting school in the fall.

Students entering seventh grade must get the tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine before starting school in August. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also highly recommends these students get meningitis and Gardasil vaccines. Gardasil protects against cancers caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection.

Students in high school need two meningitis booster shots.

Students not up to date on routine vaccinations may need to get more shots.

We ask parents to bring their child’s shot record and insurance card. This is not a free walk-in clinic.

Please call the health department at (731) 423-3020 if you have questions.
