Dee Henderson, JSCC Director, Development and Community Relations, retires

Dee Henderson, Director, Development and Community Relations, at Jackson State Community College, retired Thursday.

During a reception at the school, Jackson City Mayor Jerry Gist presented her ‘The key to the City,’ and Jimmy Harris, mayor of Madison County, presented Dee with a letter opener from the County.

Her tenure included 15 years at Jackson State Community College after serving 20 years at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, where she worked as a secretary and in public relations before transferring to JSCC.

People from throughout the state, and those from out of state were in attendance at Dee’s reception.

“It was a day of sentimental surprises,” Dee said, “I was so thrilled to see so many wonderful people who have been a part of my life and my career – not just fellow employees – but friends.

“Friends who were former student workers, who are now grown and married, and that’s the greatness of living and working in this region.”

Dee said she is prepared for the next phase of her life.

“I want to spend more time with my family – and rest,” she said.
