Madison County Sheriff John Mehr confirmed eight individuals have been arrested for multiple fights at South Side High School at 12:35 p.m., today.
School Resource Officers from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and members of the school’s faculty helped restore order and all regular activity at the school has been resumed.
According to a press release, seven of the eight arrested are juveniles and one is an 18-year-old adult.
The juveniles have been transported to the Juvenile Detention Center awaiting formal changes, pending continued investigation.
They will be charged with disorderly conduct and fighting, and will be released to their parents or guardian.
One juvenile will be charged with resisting arrest, and one juvenile was treated at the school for injuries suffered by glass breakage.
