It’s hard to digest what Randy Santel accomplished at KC Finn’s, 1027 South Highland Ave., Wednesday.
Santel, billed as a world class professional eater, was given a 30 minute time limit to consume a five-pound hamburger, one-pound of french fries and a 20-ounce soft drink during the ‘Big Burger Challenge.’
About 70 people witnessed Santel take all of 12 minutes and 44 seconds to become the first person to pull off the feat at KC Finn’s.
“We were hoping for a great challenge, and it was fantastic,” said Charlie Finn, who co-owns KC Finn’s with wife, Kathy, “But remember, the challenge is open to anyone at anytime.”
Santel, who videos the competition for youtube.com, was refunded the $30 he paid to try and complete the task.
Here’s what Santel consumed –
Four pounds of beef burger meat stacked on a five-inch bun
– 16 slices of American cheese
– Tomato, lettuce, onion, and pickle were required (or substitute bacon)
– Mayo, ketchup, and mustard were optional
– The burger challenge came as is with no other substitutions
– He was also required to finish one-pound of fries and a 20-ounce drink
