Jim Ferrell, president/CEO, Jackson Energy Authority recognized for 30 years of service during Board meeting

It wasn’t on the agenda, but the Board of Directors recognized – and presented Jim Ferrell with a service award – for his 30 years of service at Jackson Energy Authority during its December meeting, Thursday.

Jim Ferrell, who serves as president and chief executive officer at JEA, began his career Dec. 14, 1988.

He has been president and chief executive officer at Jackson Energy Authority since April 2011.

Jim was born and raised in Jackson, and is a graduate of Jackson Central-Merry High School.

He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee and a MBA from the University of Tennessee.

He began working at Jackson Energy Authority while in college, and has held various positions at the company – project Engineer, Systems Engineer, Superintendent of Systems Operations, Vice President of Operations, Sr. Vice President of Electric Division and Chief Operating Officer.

“Congratulations on your 30 year anniversary,” said Monte Jones, chairman of the Board of Directors, “Since joining the board, I have been very impressed with your leadership and ability to guide such a wonderful group of people.

“Your path through JEA over the years is a true success story and is an inspiration to the next generation of JEA associates. Thanks for all you do and again, congratulations.”
