Drawing hundreds of players and families from across West Tennessee, the Area Relief Ministries’ Sixth Annual Hub Classic Basketball tournament will be held at Oman Arena Dec. 27 through Dec. 29.
The three-day event is the largest high school tournament in the Mid-South with public and private schools from Chester, Crockett, Haywood, Madison and Shelby counties participating.
Funds raised from the event support Area Relief Ministries’ homeless outreach. ARM is in its 41st year of serving those in need. The organization has provided more than 3,000 beds and 8,000 meals through Room in the Inn, secured permanent housing for hundreds of people. ARM has also provided job training and employment for those in need.
ARM Executive Director Mike Roby said the event brings people together during the holiday season, promotes a worthy cause and provides student-athletes with a constructive activity while they are on winter break. “Our goal each year is to increase awareness about Area Relief’s work in the community, support for our youth and expand our outreach. Hub Classic grows annually because of community support,” Roby said.
General admission tickets are $7 while three-day passes are $18 and cover admittance to all games during the tournament. Individuals can only purchase passes on Thursdays, more information is available at (731) 423-9257 or contact www.areareliefministries.org.
