Murder suspect claims innocence on News/Talk 101.5 talk show

A man charged with first degree murder called a talk show on News/Talk 101.5 FM Sunday morning to say he is innocent.
The call came in to the talk show “The Other Side” hosted by Keven Hicks and J.C. Cox. Suspect Billy Moore did not identify himself on the call, but Hicks said he immediately recognized Moore because Moore calls on a regular basis.

Moore stated that there is video evidence proving he is not guilty of Friday night’s murder, and that he would turn himself in to law enforcement first thing Monday morning. However Moore turned himself into police later Sunday.

A warrant for the arrest of Billy Wayne Moore on a charge of first degree murder in connection with the shooting Friday night was issued by
Jackson City Court Judge Blake Anderson Saturday morning.

According to a press release, Jackson Police Department responded to a call around 6:15 p.m. Friday of a shooting near the 200 block of Middle Avenue. Tavoris Bates was suffering from serious gunshot injuries when officers arrived at the scene and was taken to a local hospital, where Bates later died of his injuries.

A witness told police that Billy Moore and Corrion Greer threatened to shoot Bates earlier in the evening on Middle Avenue, according to the warrant.
