Carrico’s Pizza, 1370 Union University Drive in Thomsen Farms, is small business at its best.

Brothers Charlie and John Harrell, who live in Oakland, which is about 12 miles west of their hometown of Somerville, considered different communities in the region before opening up shop in Jackson.

But a little research helped lead the pair to what they call one of the most explosive business areas in West Tennessee.

Charlie is no stranger to the business, having worked for the Milano’s Pizza chain.

Carrico’s – which is named for their grandparents – offers full-size pizza, 14- 16- and 18- inch full-size pizza, and a 28-inch party pizza.

“Besides pizza, we offer pizza rolls, pasta, subs, salads and we also cater,” Charlie said, “We’re open 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.

“We’ve had a good reception since we opened, October 29.”

The restaurant occupies 1,400-square-feet, with seating for 40 people.
