JACKSON Tenn (March 7, 2015) — A total of four fires on Friday kept the Madison County and Jackson Fire Fighter very busy.
Early Friday morning a fire destroyed a home on Poplar Corner Road in west Madison County.
At approximately 9:30 a.m. Madison County Fire Department responded to a call around 9:30 a.m. of a house fire of a two-story log house on Poplar Corner Road.
Turner said he believes the fire started due to a heat lamp left outside for pets
Seven people live in the home, Six were in the house at the time of the fire. All the residents made it out of the home uninjured.
Turner said the family was in the front of the house at the time of the fire which started in the back of the home. According to Turner, a family member went to the back of the house and discovered the fire.
The family escaped through the front of the house.
declined assistance from the Red Cross, saying they had food, clothes and a place to go.
The family attends Woodland Baptist Church, on Wallace Road. The church has opened the mission house for the family stay in and members of the church have collected clothes and other necessities
Jackson Fire Department responded to an afternoon call on Hollywood Drive of a shed fire .
Fire officials said the fire took about 15 minutes for crews to put out. There were no injuries reported. Authorities said the fire appeared to have been caused by an electrical problem but is still under investigation.
Later Friday evening Jackson Fire Department responded to a house fire on Meadowbrook Drive in South Jackson .
The house was about 50 percent damaged when they arrived, according to authorities.
Two people were in the house when the fire started. the cause of the fire is under investigation but it appears to be the dryer according to officials.
A house fire at Orleans and Cumberland streets downtown came in about 9 p.m. Flames at the two-story, wood-frame house were visible as fire fighters arrived, according to radio traffic. The house was vacant. The cause of the fire is under investigation
