Donations from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints continue to pour in and pile up at the Regional Inter-Faith Association at 133 Airways Boulevard.
Less than three months after presenting the non-profit with a check for $9,000, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints donated $35,000 worth of food to RIFA’s food bank.
“It’s our pleasure and opportunity to be back at RIFA to donate $35,000 worth of food towards the food bank,” Michael Pearson said, “RIFA does an amazing job in our community, helping with so many different needs – and food is definitely one of those.
“We’re very grateful for the opportunity to do so, and wish the best for continued success for RIFA, and all they do here in our community.”
Michael Pearson is the Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 923 Pipkin Road.
What makes the donation even more special is – the donated food was produced by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and RIFA selected the products they felt they needed the most.
In the last seven years, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has donated about $150,000 to RIFA.
“This contribution will have a huge impact on the work we do at RIFA,” said Lisa Tillman, RIFA’s executive director, “A lot of this will go towards our senior staples ministry, where we provide over 250 seniors with food throughout the year.
“It also comes at a great time with the holidays being right around the corner, and we will be partnering with another organization in our city to provide over 400 Christmas meals … this will have a tremendous impact to fight hunger in our community.”
In August, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints donated $9,000 worth of goods towards RIFA’s Snack Backpack Program.
