Early voting produces another record on Day 2

Another early voting record was set for the second day in a Governor’s election, when 1,685 voters cast ballots, Thursday.

According to the Madison County Election Commission, it is the largest daily turnout in any Governor’s election except for October 28, 2010 when 1,758 votes were cast during the last day of early voting for that election.

Secretary of State Tre Hargett visited the Madison County Election Commission, Thursday.

The Secretary of State is responsible for a number of administrative aspects for the state government, including the Division of Elections.

The early voting site is located at 311 North Parkway in Jackson in the auditorium of the Madison County Agricultural Complex.

Early voting will continue until November 1. Voting hours are 9 a.m., until 4 p.m., weekdays, and 9 a.m. to noon, Saturdays.

Election Day is November 6.

In order to vote, a photo ID issued by the State of Tennessee or the U.S. Government must be presented.

A total of 3,330 ballots have been cast during the first two days of voting for this election.
