JACKSON Tenn, (February 24, 2015) — The West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation announces a new fund to raise proceeds to care for law enforcement officers injured in the line of duty.

Earlier this week, the community rallied around Sergeant Mike Thomas of the Jackson Police Department, who was violently assaulted while on duty late Sunday night.
Sergeant Thomas is in stable condition at the Jackson-Madison General Hospital, but faces extensive surgery to repair several facial fractures and other injuries sustained in the attack.
The police department was overwhelmed with a generous response from the community to help the Thomas family during this hard time.
The Foundation has established the Sergeant Mike Thomas Charitable Fund in an effort to help the family with medical costs and other expenses while Sergeant Thomas recovers.
