Before the Jackson Christian Eagles play their first home football game on a new artificial surface, the memory of teammate Ryder Lewis will be honored.
The four, 14-yard line markers – two on each sideline has a blue border to represent the number Ryder Lewis wore -14.
“It will be more of an ovation than silence,” said Jason Shelton, the school’s athletic director and dean of students,” It’s what Ryder would have wanted, because Ryder was that kind of kid.”
Ryder Lewis, 13, a student at Jackson Christian, was killed in a a jet skiing accident on Tims Ford Lake in Moore County, June 28.
