From the Madison County Sheriff’s Office –

Madison County Sheriff John Mehr confirms an adult male was shot, treated and released from the Jackson Madison County General Hospital this afternoon.

The incident occurred in the 2800 block of Christmasville Road  in Jackson and Deputies responded to a call received at 11:53 this morning.

Because the shooting was within a short distance from N.E. Middle School, a soft lockdown was implemented.

We are asking the public for assistance. If anyone observed any suspicious activity or has information leading to the Suspects arrest, please call the MCSO @ 423-6000 or Crime Stoppers @ 424-TIPS (8477).

The investigation is ongoing.
