The annual telethon to raise money for the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse was held Sunday at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. Officials say the total for this year’s telethon was more than one point four million dollars.

The telethon, broadcast annually on WBBJ-TV, involved more than 200 volunteers…including local  musicians and media celebrities.

Donations were made by West Tennesseans who called in, as well as local organizations, businesses, and families who presented checks to the cause.
