‘The Heart Ride’ raises funds for the American Heart Association

A group of 14 area cyclists took to the road to fight Women’s Heart Disease, while raising funds to support the American Heart Association, Saturday and Sunday.

Cyclists wanted to put together an epic ride weekend event to fight Women’s Heart Disease – and the sixth annual Men Go Red For Women ‘The Heart Ride,’ was held.

Riders embarked on a 220 mile ride route Saturday, which began at City Hall in Milan, and included stops in Paris at the Eiffel Tower, and Murray, Kentucky, before reaching Eddyville, Kentucky, for the night.

Day one was a 100-mile ride, and the 120 mile ride on day two, covered the Trace, the bridge over Kentucky Lake and a return trip to Paris, before ending in Milan.

Each rider was asked to raise (at least) $500, with proceeds going to the American Heart Association.

On an extremely serious and sad note, Dr. Brad Adkins of The Woman’s Clinic, lost his nurse of 20 plus years this last year at age 46 to heart disease.

With the ride, the cyclists and The Woman’s Clinic honored the memory of Jennifer McAdams, wife of Pat – a cyclist – and all women who are battling heart disease.
