Plants, information, programs and enthusiasm were all on display when the 29th annual Summer Celebration Lawn and Garden Show was held at the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center, Thursday.
About 900 people were on the grounds before 10 a.m., with a majority looking to attend one of the 16 presentations – or garden talks.
“They are really good presentations … information they can take home and use in their garden,” said Ginger Rowsey, University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture Marketing and Communications. “Master gardeners are working the plant sale.”
Visitors were able to begin their day shopping for hard-to-find ornamentals at the master gardener plant sale, or visit an Exhibitor Tent that featured more than 40 local businesses selling plants, lawn equipment, garden art and crafts.
About 200 volunteers, vendors and master gardeners worked the popular event, helping visitors shop, and assist them when they took items to their car.
“Today, it is all hands on deck,” Rowsey said. “Staff, scientists, research workers and students.”
