They haven’t taken office, but Brett Beckham, Tommy Gobbell, Carl Alexander and Joey Hale took part in their first Madison County Republican Party monthly meeting as newly elected Madison County Commissioners at The Blacksmith Bar & Grill, Monday.
“We talked about the way we got to where we are today … (and) the teamwork that’s important for us to collectively come up with the best decisions for the county, and how it affects people and the wise way to spend money,” Jimmy Harris, mayor of Madison County, said.”We’re much better off if we can come to a consensus about the best direction for our county.”
Beckham eked out a 27 vote win – 236-209 – over Larry Lowrance in District 3, Position 1, and Gobbell held off Gerry Neese 273 to 197 in District 3, Position 2.
Alexander defeated Jim Ed Hart, 372 to 156 in District 8, Position 1, and Hale ran unopposed.
Jeff Wall, who was unable to attend Monday’s meeting, picked up 342 votes compared to ‘Smokey’ Joe Roland’s 311.
The next meeting for the Madison County Republican Party is scheduled for The Blacksmith Bar & Grill, June 11.
