Trey Teague, a former college and professional football star, is the guest speaker when the 33rd annual Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame is held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, at 6:30 p.m., Thursday.
Ivy Renfroe, Brian Dunn, Ryan Scott, Jodie Parrish and Liberty ‘Libby’ Cash are the newest members of the class of 2018.
“I know how special it is to share these moments of your career with your family and friends,” Trey said. “I’m honored to a part of this hall, and know how special it is for Jackson and Madison County to have a hall to highlight the careers of so many great teams – so many great athletes.”
Trey and his fellow offensive linemen helped Tennessee lead the nation in total offense his senior year, averaging 482 yards per game when the Volunteers won the 1997 SEC Championship.
UT compiled a 40-9 career record during his playing days.
Trey, a 2008 Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame inductee, played center and served as team captain for the University of Tennessee his senior year.
Named All-SEC third team and All-American at UT, Trey was selected by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the 1998 NFL Draft.
The Broncos won the Super Bowl his rookie season.
A nine-year veteran, Trey also played for the Buffalo Bills – 2002-2005 – and the New York Jets for one season before his retirement from professional football.
In 2013, Trey was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.
