Before the Jackson Generals get down to business Thursday, it was Media Day, Tuesday, at The Ballpark at Jackson.

The annual “Meet the Team,” event will be held at Englewood Baptist Church, 2239 North Highland Avenue, Wednesday.

Fans will have an opportunity to meet the coaches and players from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with the opportunity to take pictures and acquire autographs.

The Generals open the 2018 season at home with a five-game homestand against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, at 6:05 p.m., Thursday.

“I’m really excited about the squad we have, we have really good starting pitching,” Shelley Duncan, manager of the Generals said. “Alex Young will open … a really strong defense … guys who play solid fundamental baseball. We are going to go out there and play hard, and put a fun product for the fans in Jackson to see.”

Duncan said the Generals will begin the season with a lot of experience.

“A good blend … personalities are outstanding,” Duncan said. “It’s going to be a fun team.”
