A Department of Defense Employee Is Charged With Aggravated Assault
MADISON CO. Tenn–On Tuesday Madison County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of shots fired. Upon arrival deputies say they were flagged down by two people on the side of the road, one of whom alleged to be the victim of an assault.
According to the victim she was at the home Ms Charice McCants at 200 Cambridge Drive when an argument between the two ensued. According to the victim statement, she left the residence and was standing in McCants’ yard when McCants fired shots at her. The victim says one round narrowly missed her head.
Deputies say they spoke with McCants, who they said admitted she had fired shots in the general direction of the victim.
Charice McCants was arrested and charged with 1 count Aggravated Assault. McCants was arraigned in General Sessions court, Judge Hugh Harvey. McCants told Judge Harvey she did not have a gun carry permit and she is employed by the Department of Defense.
