Arrest Made in New Deal Rd. Home Invasion,

January 29, 2018 (MADISON Co.) – Madison County Sheriff John Mehr confirms an arrest has been made in last week’s home invasion burglary attempt.

On Friday morning at approximately 10:00 deputies responded to New Deal Road in response to a 911 call, a subject attempting to force entry into a residence.

The home owner told police that he was inside with his family when a suspect described as a black male in his 20’s attempted to force entry into his front door.

According to Tom Mapes, spokesperson for the Madison County Sheriff’s Department the resident was in fear for the family’s safety. The resident armed with a rifle warned the subject that someone was inside, according to Mapes.

He then opened the door, pointed the gun and fired from inside his residence. The subject then fled.

Shortly after the call Madison County Deputies were notified a victim was at a local hospital emergency room with a gunshot wound. The person was identified as Marquese Jovan Wood. Mr Wood was taken into custody after being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Marquese Jovan Wood is charged with Attempted Aggravated Burglary.
