Jackson Madison County Schools to Receive $400,000 Federal Funding Grant

(December 9, 2014, JACKSON, TN) – The Tennessee Department of Education has announced that the Jackson-Madison County School System will be awarded $400,000 to plan for how to best support the two Priority Schools in the district.

Earlier this year, two Jackson-Madison County Schools were identified as Priority Schools which means they performed in the lower 5 percent of schools in the state. The schools identified were Jackson Careers and Technology Elementary School and Lincoln Elementary School.

This grant will provide resources for the district to plan for how to best support the Priority Schools, beginning in the 2015-2016 school year. These funds can assist the district in engaging the community, recruiting teachers and leaders, and exploring additional resources that may be needed for the Priority Schools.

The Jackson-Madison County School System will develop a plan with the recently approved funding allocation and will communicate this plan to the staff at both schools as well as communicate the principles of the Priority Schools grant.
