A letter to parents of Bemis Montessori students says the possibility of staff reductions at the school are not related to “funding issues”.

The letter tells parents that new guidance issued details how all schools within a district must be comparable in staffing and resources in order to provide “equal educational opportunities” for all students.

According to JMC school officials, there will be a reduction in teacher assistants to the classrooms. Local school officials say in the letter, “our district is mandated to reduce the number of regular education teacher assistants so that staffing is comparable to other schools in the district”
