Union University will inaugurate Samuel W. “Dub” Oliver as its 16th president in a special Nov. 7 ceremony in G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel.

Oliver was unanimously selected as Union’s president in February and began in that role in June.
Russell D. Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, will deliver the inaugural charge.
The inauguration ceremony will also include greetings from Frank Page, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee; Randy Davis, executive director-treasurer of the Tennessee Baptist Convention; Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist and others.
Delegates from about two dozen other educational institutions will be in attendance at the inauguration.
Oliver previously served as president of East Texas Baptist University before assuming the Union presidency. Prior to his position at ETBU, he served in several leadership roles at Baylor University, including vice president for student life.
