It took 24 days, but it looks like the University of Tennessee has a new head football coach.
Reports out of Knoxville have the Volunteers finalizing a deal with Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.
Regarded as one of the top recruiters in the Southeastern Conference, Pruitt, 43, is in his second season as defensive coordinator under Nick Saban.
The Crimson Tide are ranked first nationally in scoring defense and second nationally in total defense this year.
If reports are correct, Pruitt, who will be introduced as UT’s new head football coach this evening, plans to remain as Alabama’s defensive coordinator through the College Football Playoff.
