JACKSON Tenn — The Jackson Police Department is investigating a one-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian early this morning.
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the 400 block of North Royal Street. Police tell WNWS, Jonathon Evans of Finger was driving a 2001 Ford pickup south on Royal when a pedestrian crossed into his lane of travel. This was confirmed by an eye witness, according to crash investigators.
58-year-old Danny Peterson, of Jackson, died at the scene. Evans was not injured.
A neighbor of Peterson’s, who asked not to be identified, said they were said to learn of his death. Â “He lived across the street for 30 years, recently it seemed he had worsen health issues”.
The preliminary investigation has not identified any fault on the part of the driver. This incident is still under investigation.
